Abstract | A new variation of Lagrangian formulation , called "pseudo" Lugrangian formulation is presented in this study for nonlinear analysis of degenerated shell element. In this formulation, the pseudo strain, stress, constitutive tensors and boundary condition of each element are defined in the "pseudo " reference mode , by employing a "non physical " parental clement as the reference configuration for each element in the real body. Therefore , the governing equation can be derived with respect to the "pseudo" reference con figuration. Several examples of small and finite deformation problems of linear elastic shells indicate that the bi linear de9enerated shell element baaed on the pseudo Lagrangian formulation is not only an alternative but is more competitive a nd has a n advantage in eliminating the spurious hourglass mode found in the conventional Lagrangian formulation. |
