AbstractAssessment and prediction of streamflow from basins using deterministic models of the catchment hydrology are of great concern both from the viewpoint of water resources development and planning. The study deals primarily with the applicability of the NAM model in simulating the daily rainfall-runoff relationship of twelve small river basins in different regions of Thailand. An investigation to test the viability of the model in simulating the annual discharge, baseflow and peak flows has been carried out. The model was calibrated using concurrent daily streamflow, rainfall and monthly evaporation data. It was verified using independent data to assess its predictive reliability. It was found that prospects of model' s applicability to daily streamflow estimation is promising in the Northern and North-Eastern regions and the model is inevitably a good engineering tool for the prediction of annual discharge. It can be used as a tool for water resources investigations in small watersheds .
