AbstractThe study was mainly on the lysimeter for wetland rice water management study. The characteristics of wetland rice with respect to hydrology, soil characteristics, crop response to water were studied. The lysimeters so far developed, for both wetland and dryland crop were reviewed. Studies for the development of lysimeters in wetland rice were made. Attempts were made to represent all the variables playing in the wetland rice in single unit of lysimeter allowing continuous percolation. Although it is very difficult to simulate all the components together, lysimeter for surface water has been found satisfactory. However, more work is needed on it.
