AbstractThe determination of the solar cell equation parameters has been described in this research study. Experimentally measured data was used to determine these parameters using the method proposed by Applebaum et. al. The results thus obtained were not realistic indicating that this method may not be applicable globally. A new method has been proposed to determine these parameters from measured data. The method is based on fitting the measured Values to the I-V characteristic curve such that the mean square error is the least and subsequently modifying the mean square error is the least and subsequently modifying the parametric values. The results thus obtaining by this method fit the actual curve very well. the standard deviation in the voltage values was 1.178 % indicating a very accurate fit and thus acceptable values of the parameters of the characteristic equation.
