AbstractThe material requirements planning system is used extensively with planned production. It is suitable for items which have a derived demand. For items that are materials or components used for end items, stock levels are derived from the requirements dictated by end item. It is a derived order quantity system. A workshop of construction company is responsible to maintain the regular operation of the equipment . The preventive maintenance of equipment required amount of various parts. The shortage of parts caused the shutdown of the equipment, excessive inventory incurred more carrying cost. So the MRP system was considered to solve the problem. The study deals with the adaption and implementation of the MRP model to the maintenance job of the workshop . Data from the part requirements of 5 models of equipment, each with 4 types of maintenance were analyzed. A new lot sizing technique was developed for more efficient to saving the computation. The results indicated that the MRP approach could help in solving the problems.
