Abstract | The gradient of LPG method , an iterative LP algorithm to solve the optimal design of looped water distribution systems, is further corrected by adding an additional term failed to be included in Alperovits and Shamir (1977) and Quindry et al. (1979). This is done by using sensitivity theorem in nonlinear programming (Piacco (l983)). The backtracking line-search algorithm is applied to determine the next step and to guarantee theoretically arriving at a local optima l solution for any given flow pattern. The new gradient expression is applied to the test problem used in original papers. Then various computational observation are presented. |
