Abstract | The design of an animal two row soybean seed planter to replace the traditional wooden point stick is presented. This traditional method of seeders is very low in work-capacity, uncomfortable, needs bending or squatting of the labourers during seeding and creates too much fatigue. Another reason is to meet the requirement of a soybean seed planter in relation to the second-crops intensification and intensification program in Indonesia, particularly for development of the soybean crop through the soybean project. Given these facts, a prototype of a soybean seed planter was designed. This planter was designed to be pulled by an animal due to the fact that animal power is the most available power source in agriculture in Indonesia. From the field test, it was observed that the field capacity was 0.15 ha/hr, the seeding rate was 28 seeds/m or 61.00 kg/ha the row spacing can be arranged between 30 to 80 cm and the depth of planting between 2.5 to 5.0 cm. During the test the driving wheel and seed distribution mechanism functioned well. |
