AbstractThe purpose of this study is to develop and implement micro-BUP, a parser, on a micro-computer using Prolog-l and applies it to Korean syntax analysis. Based on BUP developed by MATSUMOTO and TANAKA(1983), micro-BUP is a bottom-up parser which can deal with context-free grammars with left recursive rules and which can separate the rule part and the dictionary one. A micro-BUP translator which gives the micro-BUP grammars by translating DCGs (Definite Clause Grammars) and a micro-BUP tracer which provides debugging facilities are also developed. A set of Korean grammars covering all basic Korean sentence patterns is developed and micro-BUP is applied to perform syntax analysis. Syntax analysis experiments are conducted to verify the efficiency of micro-BUP.
