Abstract | This study analyzed alternative pricing schemes as bases for geothermal steam pricing. The Marginal Cost Pricing and Parity pricing methodologies were applied to establish the price of geothermal steam in an otherwise indeterminate bilateral Monopoly Market set-up. The alternative pricing schemes were used to determine the transfer prices for the steam produced from two geothermal fields in the Philippines. Results of the investigation revealed that the steam can be priced and high as the parity price but not lower than the marginal cost. The current steam prices administered were found to be higher than the marginal costs but are well within the price ceiling imposed by the second best alternative. |
