AbstractA microcomputer package, called SAPF, is developed on an IBM Personal Computer for settlement of pile foundation computations. It is suitable for design office use. Methods of analysis used in this package are emphasizes on conventional methods based o n TERZAGHI and TOMLINSON ' s approaches and modified theory of elasticity based on POULOS & DAVIS ' s approach . Advanced BASIC is used as the programming language which works under Disk Operating System (DOS ) of version 3.00. The package is also compiled using IBM BASIC Compiler. Settlements of two buildings in Bangkok are predicted by the package. When comparing the predicted results with the observed settlements, good agreement is obtained from the modified theory of elasticity while the conventional methods both presented by TERZAGHI and TOMLINSON don't always give a satisfied results. An illustrative example and the user manual are given to enable t h e user to be fami1iar with t h e package, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed package. The proposed package is found to be easy to use, flexible, fast and accurate for settlement analysis of pile foundations.
