Abstract | In this thesis, four type of seismic sources were used namely: Hammer and plate, Wooden plank, Torsion source and Shellgun. Hammer and plate ad Shellgun sources normally used in P-wave investigation and yield P-wave velocity of the soil layers. The soil profile can be drawn according to the seismic wave velocity. Torsion source was one of Seismic Shear wave used in the tests. Wooden plank, the primitive and good Seismic Shear wave source was also used. According to the s-wave Velocity of the soil, the dynamic moduli of the soil were determined. The value of dynamic Young's modulus of the soil are about 500 kg/cm2 for the first layer and about 990 kg/cm2 for the second layer. The Shear modulus of the soil were also determined and obtained the value about 174 and 336 kg/cm2 for first and second layer respectively. The empirical relation between dynamic Young's modulus Edyn to Static Young's modulus determined by Khalegue (1984) is Edyn = 10.5 Eu It is recommended that the soil properties obtained in this study can be used in the evaluation of the design parameters for Bangkok Clay. |
