Abstract | The experimental study is conducted in rectangular tilting flume by varying the discharge and bed slope from 0 to 0.05 with 0.005 increment interval as sluice gate opening at 2 com. An attempt is made to derive the general and characteristics equations of jump for various cross-sectional channels. The relationships between experimental and theoretical results are also investigated in this study. The water depths before and after the jump are measured by the movable pint gauges. Length of jump and discharge measurement from the V-notch weir are also observed. Basic knowledge of open channel flow and hydraulic jump formula are applied for data analysis. The experimental results obtained from this study indicate that there are many factors influencing the occurrence of jump. It must also be noted that many consistencies result from the steepening of bed slope. Most of the graphical results obtained from this study are given as the guidance to show the characteristics of jump in adverse slope for rectangular channel only. |
