AbstractThis internship research study aimed to investigate the wage gap and work-life balance of Thai women in the social work industry, with a focus on identifying policy and organizational recommendations to address these issues. The study was conducted during a 4-month internship at the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Thailand. Qualitative data was collected through interviews with women social workers, government officials, and relevant stakeholders. The findings revealed that gender inequality and traditional gender norms continue to be major barriers for women in the social work industry, leading to a significant wage gap and work-life imbalance. The study identified several policy and organizational recommendations, including the establishment of clear and transparent pay scales based on objective criteria, such as job responsibilities, education, and experience, and the implementation of policies and practices that promote gender equality and work-life balance. Additionally, organizations could establish mentoring and sponsorship programs to support the career development of women social workers and provide opportunities for advancement. The study also highlighted the need for government policies to enforce existing laws and regulations on gender equality and fair pay, and to introduce new policies and initiatives that support women's economic empowerment. Overall, this study contributes to the literature on gender inequality and work-life balance in the social work industry in Thailand and provides practical recommendations for addressing these issues.
