AbstractThis study investigates the support mechanisms of the Sampran Model, a local non-profit organization fostering the development of Community-based enterprises (CBEs) in Nakhon Pratom province. The research objectives are to analyze the support mechanisms provided by the Sampran Model, assess their influence on CBEs, explore farmers' perceptions regarding the model's effectiveness, and identify key success factors that can be applied in other contexts. Utilizing a qualitative methods approach, the study reveals that the Sampran Model adopts a distinctive and holistic approach to development, incorporating a demand-side approach, support throughout the value chain, and continuous support. The Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Standard, a community-based standard involving producers and buyers, promotes collaboration among farmers and establishes standards for CBEs. The findings highlight the importance of knowledge sharing, capacity building, and market access in fostering the growth of CBEs and organic farming practices. The Sampran Model empowers CBEs by enabling them to independently manage their operations and uphold PGS standards for organic farming. The demand-pull strategy is vital for the model's overall success, ensuring the sustainability and ongoing growth of CBEs. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers and organizations to create targeted support programs, strengthen the capacity of organic farmers, and establish markets or platforms that facilitate direct connections between organic producers and consumers. Future research could focus on longitudinal studies, comparative analysis, environmental impact assessment, and exploring potential market channels for CBEs under the Sampran Model.
