Abstract | This paper presents a novel approach to measuring the displacement of an operational launching gantry by using a non-destructive technique, which is a sampling moiré camera. The mentioned method is well-known for its effectiveness in measuring short distances and is typically employed in controlled environments, such as within buildings or laboratories. However, this thesis endeavors to apply the sampling moiré method in real-world conditions, particularly for long-distance testing. The motivation for this research is the current global challenge in public construction, including bridges and roads. Notably, in Thailand since the beginning of 2023, there have been over three accidents resulting in loss of life due to inadequate structural monitoring. This thesis aims to enhance and propose a new approach to structural health monitoring, specifically for long-distance deformation measurement. This method leverages image processing techniques to accurately measure structural displacements. The research applies the mentioned method to monitor an operation of a launching girder. Results show that the sampling moiré method could depict the movement of the launching gantry successfully. The results also outline the challenges and difficulties associated with implementing this method. Accuracy and recommendations for improvement are also mentioned in this thesis. |
