Abstract | Websites are critical tools for marketing, promoting, and increasing the awareness about an organization. Additionally, people have stopped driving around in search of something they want, preferring to stay home and search for it on the internet. Organizations within a larger enterprise such as an university may not necessarily need a website for marketing, but do require information systems for management purposes. This research study aims to create a prototype of a web application facilitating access to the Asian Institute of Technology’s gym, to benefit users and help staff keep track of memberships. In the previously existing system staff keep track of memberships manually, so they often make mistakes, making the data they collect inaccurate and ineffective. The purpose of this research study is therefore to create an effective management system that allows users to get memberships online and to explore the facilities of the university gym before getting their membership. It also aims to facilitate staff in keeping information about users accurately and effectively. This application uses the Django framework for both the front-end and the back-end, with SQLite as the database. The system also uses few Python libraries to provide advanced capabilities, specifically FaceX-Zoo (Jun Wang et al., 2021) for face detection and EasyOCR (Jaided AI, 2020) for payment slip verification. After verifying the payment slip, if the payment slip is valid the user’s membership will be activated with the payment date from the payment slip as start date of the membership. |
