Abstract | The aim of this research work is to identify t he flooring systems which are popularly used in Taipei and Bangkok and to conduct the cost evaluation of the flooring systems. The advantages and disadvantages of various flooring systems are discussed in details. Relevant data with regard to the construction cost, construction time, structure performance, weigh t and depth of the flooring systems are collected in both countries in order to determine he optimum flooring system with respect to the slab span range. The results obtained in this study reveal that the flooring systems popularly used in Taipei. are beam-and-slab, flat plate, cast-in-place hallow core slab, waffle slab and prefabricated slab systems. The optimum flooring systems are the ordinary reinforced and post-tensioned flat plate system for: the shorter and longer slab span range respectively. The optimum flooring system is the cast-in -place hollo~ core slab system in a very long slab s pan range of about 15 m. In Bangkok, they are beam-and-slab, post-tensioned flat plate and prefabricated slab systems. The optimum flooring systems are the prefabricated floor filler system in 2.5 to 5 meters slab span range and post-tensioned flat plate system in 7 to 9 meters s lab spa n range. |
