AbstractThailand's mangrove forests have been seriously degraded, especially Chanthaburi Province. The requirement of coastal resources master plan and appropriate management are urgently established. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) are effective tools that could be useful for decision-making of monitor and management. The study was carried out at Kung Krabaen Bay Development and Study Center by using PAMAP geographic information system, black and white aerial photographs and satellite imagery. This study monitored the existing shrimp farm and mangrove forest, including identified the suitable area for shrimp farm and mangrove reforestation along Chanthaburi coastal zone. A correlation analysis of the suitable area based on basic physical and chemical factors such as soil type, pH, soil texture, etc. the results could be beneficial for further management of natural resources and the method could be applied to other coastal zone in Thailand.
