AbstractA microcomputer program written in FORTRAN and using CP/M operation system is developed for the calculation of interaction diagrams of general cross-sections with one axis of symmetry subjected to combined action of bending moments and axial force. The program can be applied to compressive members such as columns and central cores of buildings as well as to flexural members subjected to partial prestressing such as beams in building construction, bridge girders, etc. In the program, the capacity of a cross-section may be calculated for various stress- strain relations of the prestressing and non -prestressing steel reinforcement and for various stress block assumptions such asrectangular , parabolic, Hognestad, etc. Standard material properties for concrete and steel are available so that the user ca n easily select suitable properties for practical analyses and design. The user may input new material properties or experimental data which may be composed of any curve. The so-cal l ed rati onal approach is followed to calculate the interaction diagram, i.e. the capacity of a cross-section is evaluated assuming a linear strain distribution and taking the stress-strain relations of concrete and steel into account. This approach may differ from the approach given in a building code.
