AbstractThis study tests the AlT model developed earlier at AIT on the large sewerage systems and proposes modification found necessary during testing. Th e decomposed branches and the reduction of states are developed to solve the problem of the large computer storage requirement for the large sewerage system design and these are illustrated by three successful examples. The modified AIT program considers the partial flow situation to make the AlT model more accurate. This new approach satisfies the velocity constraints in both flow conditions. Hence , it opens the door for the combined sewer system design where two flow situations are to be considered. Modified AIT program shows better optimal design abilities in both cost and CPU time compared to Discrete Differential Dynamic Programming (DDDP) Approach and the conventional sewer system design. In case of large sewerage systems, modified AIT pro gram shows its effectiveness.
