Abstract | This thesis concentrates on the classification of laterites a n d lateritic s oils in Southeastern Thailand. From the study, laterite formations in this part of Thailand are classified into two groups based on their genesis. They are ground water laterites and pedogenetic laterites. According to t he morphology laterites are divided into three main groups; the lateritic rock , the lateritic gravels and gravelly soils and lateritic soils. Some of the tests carried out on these laterites include the sieve analysis, the atterberg limit, the C.BR., and the Los Angeles abrasion tests. The results of these tests classify the soil as A-1-a, A-1-b, A-l-4, A-2-6 and a-2-7 groups of the AASHO system. It means that these laterites can be used as good materials f or sub-base and base in road. construction. |
