AbstractThe demand for outsourcing of electronic manufacturing has been increasing drastically in past 5 years due to economies of scale and high investment for setting up the new factory. Most of electronic product companies have come out with the outsourcing strategy and they themselves focus on the research development (R&D) and marketing only. In the business world, whenever the demand is increasing it will increase the intensity of competition on the supply side because the existing and new entrants will try to get more business. To compete, many subcontractor companies offer more value added products to the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) company. One of important functions of a business organization is to manage its operations efficiently. The operations management becomes even more crucial in a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) subcontractor company where the margins are very low and the subcontractor has to provide the best product and the services to the OEM at the lowest price. The survival of the PCBA subcontractors is further threatened by the fluctuations in the market demand for OEMs' products. The purpose of this research study is to identify internal actions for improving the operations management in PCBA subcontractor company.
