| Abstract | Many engineering problems can be reduced to problems in two dimensions involving functions of a complex variable. As a consequence , the important aspect of the choice of a suitable coordinate system leads to the use of conformal mapping. As a rule , a simply connected region is mapped on to the unit circle; or the outside of such a region i.e., a doubly connected region , is mapped on to the outside of the unit circle , or on to the unit circle. The purpose of this work is to develop a software package for mapping simply connected regions on to a circle , based on Melentiev ' s method of approximate conformal transformation. |
