AbstractThe Sirikit oil field started production in January, 1983. The crude has been transported from Lan Krabu to Bung Phra railways station by lorries with trailors and transferred to Bangkok by train. The economic analysis of various alternative transportation system is performed by using cash flow analysis. The result was that a 12 inches pipeline from Lan Krabu to Bangkok would be a economical alternative transportation system at 15% annual rate of return but a certain high production profile have to be met (maximum flowrate is 100,000 bpd.). Below that production profile, the cheaper alternative transportation route would be a railroad along the whole distance but it will not be possible unless the SRT. invest in laying the rail from Lan Krabu to Bung Phra to connect with the existing rail.
