AbstractThe objective of this study was to compare Rural Youth Clubs in areas having only Rural Youth Clubs which were considered as the control group and areas having Farmers' Groups, Farms Women's' Clubs and Rural Youth Clubs which were considered as the experimental group to determine whether Rural Youth Clubs in the latter areas perform better and whether their activities and projects are relevant to the needs and interest of rural youth. The research area was the Central region of Thailand which included of Ayuthaya, Lopburi, Chainart, Singburi, Angthong, Saraburi and Prathumthani Province. The study has concentrated on evaluation knowledge, practices of participation, information transfer and businesses undertaken by Rural Youth Club members to make a comparison between the experimental group and control group which will indicate the impact of other farmers' organizations (Farmers Groups and Farm Women Clubs) on Rural Youth Clubs (Yuwakasetkorn Club), and also identify the activities or projects which the club members need. Survey information was collected by using group interviews. The t-test and relative frequencies were used in the presentation and analysis of these data. The finding show that, the progress of Rural Youth Clubs in the experimental and control groups was not significantly different, although the Rural Youth Clubs in the experimental group have interacted with other farmers' organizations through knowledge exchange, money subsidies, material support, labour exchange and coordination. The experimental group was merely more active than the control group. While most Rural Youth Club members were satisfied with projects and activities already, they were still interested in agriculture, home economics and also non fam activities because the government could not introduce these activities or projects to cover all Rural Youth Clubs in both groups.
