Abstract | Many different growth curves (S-shaped curves) are available in the literature describing their uses for technological forecasting. In addition, other than these curves, many different methods are also available in the literature. This study attempts to analyze and provide critical views of the different S-shaped curves used in works done in AIT for technological forecasting. An attempt is made to study the effect of an introduction of a new technology on the present two competing technologies whereby only one data point is available for the new technology. Study is also done on multilevel substitution using the S-shaped curve and apply to forecast for the case of U.S. beverage can market. In addition, a review of selected alternative methods are also studied. |
