AbstractDrainable depth at mid-section between parallel drains were computed by two analytical approaches, namely First Approximate solution and Laplace Type solution for six different draining depths. For comparison of theoretical results experiment were performed in a vertical Hele-Shaw model using oil as model fluid. For small draining depth results of the two analytical models were identical and experimental results show close agreement in the initial period of draining for all the draining depths. With the increase in draining depth appreciable difference in results of analytical model was observed. Among the two analytical approaches used here, Laplace Type solution is better as it shows reasonably closer agreement with experimental results for all the draining depth used.
