AbstractRayong is one of the developed ares in fish industries. Major fishing industries and fish processing factories are located on the lower Rayong river. Tidal current is one of the factors to convect and disperse the pollutants carried b y the Rayong river. The tidal phenomena along the Rayong coast have been studied. Tide and tidal currents have been analyzed by the method of Harmonic analysis. The contributing tidal harmonics have been found out by statistical method, the autocorrelation technique. The analysis has been limited to 46 days hourly tide record a t Ko-Saket and to 7 days and 12 days 20 min. current records a t two stations on Ao-Rayong. A prediction, with the selected constituents, agreed quite satisfactorily with the observed tide at Ko-Saket on the Rayong coast. The tide in t he Rayong coast has been found to be classified as diurnal type with four predominating constituents namely, Kl,Ol,M2 and S2. A few other constituents, including long period waves are also active, but have less significance. Current along the coastline is very weak and its pattern is not rotary, rat her almost oscillatory in a complex manner. The current is almost parallel to the shoreline a long the mid-length of the coast a nd south-south westerly near the eastern end of the coast. The tidal current pattern along the coastline is very complex and is not of rotary type. No relationship could be found.to exist between tide and tidal current along the Rayong coast.
