AbstractThe theory of kriging , an optimal linear estimation technique for spatial stochastic processes is presented. It outlines the procedure for structure identification in the form of generalized covariances corresponding to IRF-K theory, and how to perform point or block kriging. The computer program ' KRIPAC ' used for spatial analysis of groundwater data is basically revised from the existing program 'AKRIP' . For the purpose of analysis the piezometric levels below groundwater surface measured in 1981, at the observation wells of Nonthaburi aquifer underlying the city of Bangkok are considered. Values are interpolated using kriging technique for the missing data of nine months. The results analyzed by kriging technique are compared with model calibration method . Generally, results point out the feasibility and attractive ness of kriging method for contour map preparation. Since the kriging variance can give the amount of confidence that can be placed on t h e estimates, this property is used as an index to decide on the advisability of reinforcing t h e network and for determining the optimal location of possible additional measurement point.
