AbstractThe relationship between maximum 30-minute rainfall (R30) and daily rainfall (RD) is the primary objective to establish a soil erosion mode for tropical Asia proposed in this study. statistical analysis were conducted for R30 at various intervals of RD. Rainfall data from south-east of Thailand were considered for analysis. The relationship was established with R30 represented by its mean or median values while RD by its class mark. The model being fitted: R30, = M [1 - exp (-b RD)] x; 5o% where M is a maximum value and b a parameter. Between the mean R30 and RD relationship a value of 34.13, 37.42 and 25.75 mm for M was calculated for Chantaburi, Chonburi, and Rayong respectively. In case of b, a value of 0.02, 0.02 and 0.03 was found for Chantaburi, Chonburi and Rayong respectively. Between the median R30 and RD relationship a value of 34.08, 40.62, and 24.83 mm for M was calculated for Chantaburi, Chonburi, and Rayong respectively. The values of b were found to be respectively 0.0197, 0.018 and 0.037.
