AbstractThis study present presents the analysis and design of a computerized vehicle management information system for implementation at the Physical Plant, Asian Institute of Technology The work flows and problems of the existing manual system are carefully studied during the systems analysis phase before a new system is proposed. This work describes the design and implementation of the proposed system by considering all the possible factors, so that a high performance would be attained. The system is implemented on the IBM 3031 Model'6 under VM-CMS, and can accept the vehicle booking data, perform booking and produce all necessary documents. Besides these features, the system can indicate the available time of the vehicles, check the list of booked vehicles, cancel the booked vehicle, charge the vehicle users, and substitute the broken-down vehicle by another vehicle. All the subsystem are completely designed using a HIPO approach so that the whole system can be easily expanded.
