AbstractThis study presents the design and development of a computer-assisted documentation system as a tool for structured analysis on a microcomputer. The main purpose of the system is to provide a standard approach and procedure for automatic documenting the structured systems analysis. The significant system capabilities include the automatic construction, maintenance, and provision of hardcopies of the structured analysis tools. The documentation tools available in this system are the data flow diagrams, the index lists, and the other supporting descriptions. In developing the system, the diagram naming conventions, the diagram syntax, and the diagram construction scheme are designed. This system is developed based on the function-oriented processing concept and implemented on an IBM(PC) using the BASIC advanced programming language. A case study of a Registration Information system is presented to demonstrate the use of the proposed system.
