Abstract | The study is concerned with the development of Tung Kula Ronghai, which is one of the backward areas in the northeast Region of Thailand. Considering it as a lagging area, it has been earmarked for development since the Fourth national Economic and Social Development Plan. Physical and infrastructure characteristics underlying the development problem of Tung Kula Ronghai have been identified and investigated with specific reference to soil, water, land tenure, and road network, to suggest guidelines for the planning of future development schemes in the area. In the conclusion of the study, planning for an agricultural base of livelihood had been focussed on introduction relevant programs for implementation. Since the area was recently targeted for infrastructure development, the need for further research was identified to support future planning. Lastly, recommendations to solve four major constraints of the Tung Kula Ronghai were given. |
