Abstract | This study is concerned with the analysis, planning and implementation of MRP and Kanban systems. Both the systems have been extensively studied based on the experiences of researchers and practioners as reported in the available literatures. A comparison of the two system indicates that the MRP system is an excellent planning technique where as the Kanban system itself is a controlling device. Therefore in a production process if we use MRP for planning and Kanban for shop-floor control probably it would end up with much better result. A plant visit to an assembly production unit was made to gather some information related to the real life experiences. |
