Abstract | Technology is a prime determinant of economic growth. Over the year s ASEAN and some other countries have experienced different rates of economic growth. At the same time they have changed their technological mixes in their importation and exportation of technology. These technological mixes , when proxied by the changes in the volumes of trade flows are apparently explaining the difference in the rates economic growth of these countries. This research study attempts to measure the patterns of technology flow of 1965 and the changes in these patterns from 1965 t o 197 9 of the ASEAN a nd the selected countries of Japan, U.S.A, U.K and south Korea using trade as the indicator. The pattern change caused by the changes in the transfer effectiveness of the different categories of the technology is observed with the help of the U.N's method of technology classification by products . |
