AbstractThe Electrical-Electronic (EE) Industry is concerned with the production, manufacturing and assembling of a broad range of goods. In this Research Study, fourteen categories of selected EE products classified as under television, radios, consumer household appliances, sectorial parts and components and integrated circuits are considered . The aim of this Research Study is to identify the problems, issues a nd characteristics facing the EE Industry, trends and flow of EE goods in Thailand and to some extend identifying the role of government in the promotion and encouragement of the industry's growth. The approach made in the study is qualitative in nature substantiated in the final part with interviews made with selected EE companies and general survey through questionnaires sent to certain EE companies in Thailand. The manufacturing of integrated circuits can be considered as a separate entity because the amount of foreign exchange earned and value added content contributed is small compared to the other EE products . However its growth is encouraged firstly because of its " export-orientated" nature which is in-line with t he policies of the Fourth and Fifth Development Plans of Thailand. Secondly, it contributes to the economic well-being of the country by creating employment opportunities t o the people. The findings and conclusions made in this Research Study would be useful to the government as a guideline in formulating future policies for the further development of the EE Industry in Thailand.
