Abstract | The study was conducted at the Asian Institute of Technology , Bangkok, Thailand in 1983. Eight lysimeters were used to measure actual evapotranspiration for the first 24 days and then four of them were spared t o measure transpiration. Potential evapotranspiration was measured by class A pan and Penman's method. The experiment included daily five observations of pan, air, dry and wet bulb temperatures ,pan evaporation and wind run. Instantaneous values of soil temperatures, s o lar and n et radiation were recorded with a minute interval and integrated over 12-hrs(0630-18 30 ) and 24-hrs (0630-0630) periods. The seasonal averages of solar radiation , net radiation , soil heat flux and. advection were 419 , 301,19 and 177 cal cm24 hrs where as dry bulb temperature , vapor pressure and wind run were 29.5 c, 13 mbars and 3 .1 m/sec respectively on 12-hrs basis. Similarly actual evapotranspiration, transpiration and Pan evaporation were 6.69 mm , 4.12 mm and 6.17 mm on 12-hr basis and 8.68 mm , 5.70 mm and 8.84 mm on 24-hrs basis . Penman evaporation using PENMAN (1948) wind function was 6.11 mm on 21-hr basis. Both Pan and Penman methods underestimated the actual evapotranspiration. A new wind function , "f(u) =0.18+0.022u2" was determined locally. Relative Evapotranspiration(ET / Ep) was 0.93 , 1.11 and 1.08 on 12-hrs basis and 0.95 , 1.07 and 1 . 13 on 24-hrs basis at vegetative , reproductive and maturization phases respectively. |
