AbstractThis study presents development of a computer based SALES CONTROL INFORMATION SYSTEM for a Process Industry. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is selected as the case study. The existing system is first analyzed and its' characteristics are viewed in the light of the management information requirements of the CPC. A system is then designed to cater the identified information requirements while satisfying financial and technical constraints. The designed system satisfies the needs of all distribution depots, covering Sales Accounting, Inventory Control, and Sales Analysis application areas. In addition to these, it provides facilities for interactive processing of Sales Orders. Cash Receipts, and On-line Inquiry at the central distribution depot.
