Abstract | A Thai syllable separation algorithm is developed and implemented, based on the approach of the syllable structure analysis. The analysis on Thai syllable structures is carried out and consequently rules for syllable boundaries recognition are established. A unique approach is employed to separate every syllables in a given Thai text. The algorithm is implemented using the BASIC programming language on the NEC PC-8001 which is capable to process Thai character. More than 30,000 Thai syllables from different random texts are tested. An acceptable result of around 96% of correctness is obtained. |
