AbstractThe present thesis is concerned with the annual and daily streamflow generation model for the lower part of the Mekong River. For the annual streamflow generation the Autoregressive model and two-state Markov model with four types of random components are considered. finally the former model with gamma random variate is selected because of its satisfactory performance. The generation of daily flows is then made by disaggregating the generated annual flows using the fragments which are defined from the historical record. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed model, the generated sequences are compared with the historical one in terms of some useful statistics, among which the extreme daily flows that are useful in flood and drought analyses are also considered. Application of the model to flow data of the Mekong River at Vientiane, Pakse, and Kratie show that the model performs satisfactorily in reproducting the aforementioned statistics. Accordingly. all the computer programs needed in this generation are written with sufficient documentation to help the user in applying the model.
