Abstract | Computer represents the fastest-growing segment in the data processing industry in recent years. There have been significant changes in the characteristic and variety of the computer hardware and software. With the increasing complexity and variety, selecting an appropriate computer system is itself becoming a complex process. This study involves implementing a microcomputer based software package for computer selection decision making. The selection model is primarily based on an existing "Technology Assessment Model" with modifications to suit possible committee decision making. The proposed model allows decision maker's flexibility in explicitly expressing his or her judgement as to the relative importance of the quantitative and qualitative considerations in addition to the statistical and analytical techniques. It also allows the decision maker to perform sensitivity analysis. |
