AbstractThe experimental characteristics of wind wave reflection, transmission and energy losses due to submerged horizontal plate are considered . Horizontal plates of different widths are located at various depths for investigation. The study uses an analog-to- digital converter and a microcomputer to send signals for controlling the system, collecting analog input data using a very short time increment of 0.02 seconds and converts these into digital form. They are then stored in disk for further analysis. The wave spectrum method is applied to analyze the raw data. After analysis the figures of autocorrelation and wave spectrum are plotted directly by the microcomputer printer. The experimental results show that the reflection and transmission coefficients are considerably dependent on the submergence depth ratio (h ' /h) and the ratio of plate length to wave length (B/L). The energy losses are significant for surface p l ate which makes the incident wave breaks on top of the plate.
