AbstractSimulation of chemical processes is a powerful tool for studding its design and operation. The process dynamics can be understood by various testing procedures. Thus the solutions of the process problem can be brought out and verified a with the simulation program . With case studies, the Dehydration tower of a DMT plant is well understood . The main problem o f this tower is flooding of acid on the t op or dilution of acid in the bottom. This study shows that the bottom temperature control can keep the acid concentration within range . Further improvement can be achieved by a feedforward control for the change of the teed stream . Energy is saved if the reboiler-reflux decoupling control loop is added .
