Abstract | This study was undertaken as a field consultation assignment aimed at evaluating the maintenance information system of a tire manufacturing plant. A general study of the existing practice was first made a nd the data collection, processing and utilization procedure was analyzed. It was found that the deficiency in current planning and controlling practice arise from misinterpretation and adaptation of the predesigned information system from the Parent Company. In view of the fact that deficiencies in planning and control practices cannot be cured by any degree of sophistication in information system, an in-depth study vas made to analyze the consequential weaknesses and identity potential problem are as taking into full consideration the existing mode organization and operating environment. Due to time constraint, only remedial modifications within the framework of the existing system was made to rectify the deficiencies as best as possible. |
