Abstract | The purpose of this special study is to analyze the existing management practices in two tyre manufacturing plants which have similarities in technology and market environment. The two companies are Joint ventures and subsidiaries of multinational corporations oi Japan and the U.S. Interviews were held at both the companies with key personnel of all levels of the organizations to collect the required data tor analysis. The differences in employee participation in decision making, organizational structural , training procedures, rewards and staffing policies, and quality control procedures come within the scope of this study. These observed differences are shown to have effect on the organizational effectiveness in terms of production , quality and employ e satisfaction. The study concludes that sufficient emphasis is not given to certain aspects of management in the U.S. based company which is found to have some harmful effects on the organizational effectiveness. |
