Abstract | This stud y aims at the study of the petroleum fuels industry and the effects of tarrits on the production level of the local refineries and the revenue earned by the government.. These are evaluated by a linear programming model in conjunction with a simple econometric demand model . The econometric model determines the demand at different price levels and this is used as exogenously determined in the LP model to optimize the domestic refinery production level at a give n tariff structure. The study indicates an increase in tariffs of kerosene, LPG and regular gasoline would result in the highest domestic production and at the same time maximizing the revenue to the government. |
