| Abstract | The present research is concerned with the development of a Water Resources Information System for the Lower Mekong Basin. The work includes the design and implementation of a data management and retrieval system for the hydrologic and meteorologic data available to the Mekong Secretariat. Daily discharge and daily rainfall data are selected for the study. The system can accommodate any additional data type without further modification of the storage system.
A new coding scheme has been designed to facilitate data processing.
An interactive retrieval system has been designed and implemented on IBM VM/370 so that information can readily be available to the users.
File maintenance, necessary recovery and backup strategies are also incorporated into the implemented system.
