AbstractThis thesis presents a pre-feasibility study of the application of solar energy to the Finishing Unit of a Textile Factory. Analysis of the existing system by the method of available energy shows how the factory uses its energy in this unit. Two solar systems, with storage tank and without storage tank, are proposed to beat the make-up water. Mathematical models are formulated in order to estimate the performance of the systems. The estimation is conducted for different values of collector area, collector type, storage size and flowrate. The results of a cost estimation show that the application of the proposed solar system for .. ·this unit is feasible but the contribution of solar energy to the total energy is small.
