AbstractIn this study, analysis of water quality data in the Chung Ka.ng Ri v e r in Taiwan, Republic of China, was conducted using some statistical techniques; in particular order statistics, factor analysis and the Box-Jenkins time series analysis. Order statistics technique was used to assess the water quality of lognormally distributed parameters, on the assumption that the data were independent, and the water quality assessment was done for water quality data at three stations' for 5 years. Principal component analysis showed that the existing 3 sampling stations could actually be reduced to 2 without losing significant information in the statistical sense. Finally, the Box-Jenkins time series analysis was conducted to establish the ARIHA models for selected ~parameters and to forecast water quality parameters.
