AbstractIn Nepal, agricultural economic development centres round the agricultural development. The possibilities of raising agricultural productivity, it is necessary to see the producers' behaviour concerning why they do, what they are doing. producers' behaviour is of crucial importance, since the agricultural development is often based on the individual decision-marking. The study area is Bhaktapur which is an agricultural town, The present study probes into the existing cropping pattern of the major crops and their cost return analysis. It seeks to find out the farmers' decision in growing those crops. It also intended to find out the inhibiting factors in farmers' desion-making in growing the profitable crops for optimum return. The findings of the study reveals that a majority of the farmers grow only rice and wheat inspire of growing the profitable cash crops and some to the vegetables. Available evidences shows that there are some institutional factors like the size of land holding, the existing situation of the market, technological know-how and quite a number of other factors are affecting the optimum farm decisions.
